Senior Back-End Developer

We’re looking fora Senior Back-End Developer who enjoys solving complex problems, buildingscalable systems, and working with modern cloud technologies.

You’ll be part ofa global technology environment working on an exciting product focused onintelligent and bidirectional EV charging connecting vehicles, charginginfrastructure, energy partners and smart energy ecosystems.

You’ll helpdesign, build, deploy and operate backend systems that support:

• Smart charging plans optimised around cost, solar, load, CO² and battery usage
  
• EV wallbox connections and app-based control
  
• Bidirectional charging using V2H and V2G
  
• Integration with external energy partners
  
• Direct vehicle control without wallboxes
  
• Open APIs for integrating vehicles into wider energy ecosystems
  

You’ll beresponsible for:

• Designing, developing, deploying and operating production-ready backend applications
  
• Building scalable microservices and cloud-native solutions
  
• Designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  
• Working with distributed systems and containerised environments
  
• Developing solutions using Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript or Node.js
  
• Working with AWS services including Kubernetes, Serverless, API Gateway, CloudWatch, ECS, Lambda, OpenSearch, RDS and S3
  
• Using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code to automate infrastructure
  
• Working with both SQL and NoSQL databases
  
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions
  
• Implementing automated deployment and configuration processes
  
• Monitoring applications and using observability and log analytics tools to keep systems healthy
  
• Applying cloud security principles throughout development and deployment
  
• Writing automated unit, integration and end-to-end tests
  
• Troubleshooting complex technical problems across multiple systems
  
• Identifying risks and impediments and proactively driving them to resolution
  
• Producing technical documentation in line with required standards
  
• Participating in Agile and Scrum ceremonies
  
• Sharing knowledge, mentoring and coaching other team members
  
• Supporting productionapplications in a 24/7 environment
  

Requirements

• 10+ years of production backend software development experience
  
• Strong experience with Java preferred, or Python / JavaScript / TypeScript / Node.js
  
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture
  
• Experience with cloud-native and container architectures
  
• Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems
  
• Strong AWS experience
  
• Experience with Kubernetes and Serverless
  
• Experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
  
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience
  
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  
• Strong understanding of REST API design
  
• Excellent Git knowledge
  
• Knowledge of software design and architecture patterns
  
• Strong understanding of secure software development
  
• Solid automated testing experience
  
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
  
• A relevant IT degree or equivalent experience
  
• Cloud certification at Developer Associate level or higher is preferred
