To review technical safety assessments for the nuclear facilities in the area of design safety, maintenance and In-service inspection, radiation and nuclear safety

Requirements

• NQF level 7 in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years regulatory or industry related experience 

Knowledge of the following:

• Radiation and Nuclear Safety Principles
• Design Safety and Facility Modifications
• Maintenance Programmes and In-Service Inspection (ISI)

Duties and Responsibilities

• To perform technical assessments of nuclear facilities and other nuclear activities regulated by the NNR.
• Provide scientific and technical services necessary to assess the adequacy and effective of hazard assessments and other safety submissions from nuclear facilities.
• Development and utilization of tools including computer codes and calculation methodologies during review and assessment work.
• Identify sources of technical information related to specific disciplines and relevant work to the NNR
• To review international standards, and advise management of relevance to the NNR
• Evaluate changes in terms of codes and standards and make decision based on facts to ensure nuclear safety.
• Must be able to conduct research and standards and make decision based on facts to ensure nuclear
