Location: Dahlonega, GA

Reports To: Division Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Compensation: $70,000 – $75,000, plus bilingual premium of $3,000 – $5,000

Job Summary

Meeco Sullivan (Wahoo Docks) is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) HR/Safety Manager for the Dahlonega Division. This is first and foremost a human resources leadership role. The successful candidate will serve as the primary HR resource for a large, Spanish-speaking production workforce, managing employee relations, recruiting, leave and benefits, disciplinary matters, payroll preparedness, and employment law compliance. The role also carries safety responsibility, including OSHA compliance, the behavior-based safety program, and incident investigation, along with workers’ compensation administration. The position reports to the Division Manager and maintains a direct working relationship with the HR Business Partner.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required. A large share of the Dahlonega workforce speaks Spanish, and this role delivers HR communications, employee relations conversations, disciplinary documentation, and safety training directly to employees in both languages without an interpreter.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers in the Dahlonega Division, in English and Spanish.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve employee relations issues, including performance, conduct, and workplace conflict, with objectivity and sound judgment.
  • Manage disciplinary matters and conduct investigations, ensuring documentation is consistent and defensible.
  • Administer benefits and leave management, including FMLA and other leave programs.
  • Lead recruitment: advertise open positions, interview candidates, and facilitate hiring of qualified applicants.
  • Conduct background checks, employee eligibility verification (Form I-9), and new hire orientation.
  • Enter payroll requests, manage timecard approvals, and audit payroll registers.
  • Lead employee morale, engagement, and training and development initiatives.
  • Facilitate HR communications and mandatory compliance training in English and Spanish.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, Georgia, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate strong judgment in sensitive HR matters.

Safety (Corporate H&S team provides program support)

  • Maintain and improve the behavior-based safety program with support from the corporate H&S team.
  • Monitor work environments, identify hazards, and implement protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Coordinate federal and state OSHA training; develop safety and environmental training materials in English and Spanish.
  • Deliver health and safety orientation for all new employees, coordinated with pre-employment drug screening.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents; determine root cause and drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate monthly Safety Committee meetings and monthly/quarterly audits, with follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Measure health and safety compliance at the facility and report regularly to management.

Workers’ Compensation

  • Administer workers’ compensation claims from first report through return to work, including documentation, work restrictions, and carrier communication.
  • Track claim status, treatment, and restrictions, and maintain accurate OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate modified-duty and return-to-work arrangements with division managers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, written and spoken, sufficient to conduct employee relations meetings, investigations, and training without an interpreter.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Working knowledge of federal, Georgia, and local employment law and HR compliance.
  • Experience handling employee relations, disciplinary matters, and investigations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with an HRIS (Workday preferred).
  • Sound judgment, with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend logical, defensible courses of action.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across all organizational levels.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OSHA regulations and safety program management.
