Overview:

An experienced structural engineer who advises project teams and provides support focusing on advancing the technical capabilities, and competence of HKS project delivery, documents, and processes. Possesses strong communication skills, leadership skills, ability to solve problems creatively and ability to foster and manage effective team relationships. Possesses advanced knowledge of the building code and structural design codes. Endorses the firm’s values by personally influencing client service, innovation and communication. Acts subject matter expert for technical solutions across sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Motivates the staff to raise the quality of deliverables
  • Conducts quality management reviews of implementation documents
  • Reviews documentation in conjunction with project team and suggests modifications and improvements that benefit the project
  • Reviews implementation documentation and other project information for projects and coordinates compliance with project requirements, office standards, technical conditions, acceptable standards, and codes
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors / suppliers
  • Works with project teams as a technical implementation resource for projects
  • Supports project teams in tracking, scheduling, and performing Quality Management reviews at project deliverable milestones
  • Conducts research to update project specifications and develop guidelines for new systems and materials
  • Communicates proactively with teams on technical content
  • Leads and participates in project reviews and document reviews
  • Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
  • Develops and implements code compliance education and training programs for HKS structures
  • Stays current on product development, new materials, code changes and industry trends

Qualifications:

  • Accredited professional degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineering registration required
  • Typically, 20+ years of structural experience
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Revit preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
  • Experience with quality control/quality assurance
  • Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods and construction materials
  • Strong knowledge of structural building systems
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC and specification process
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents
  • Strong knowledge of project delivery for both small-scale and large-scale projects
  • Strong knowledge of building technology, evolution, and development of construction materials and products
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to manage team with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise, complete, and correct manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to proactively problem solve and apply innovative solutions
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
