Job DetailsJob Location: Dallas, TX 75241Homeward Bound Inc. is seeking Certified Medical Assistants for its crisis residential unit. Individuals on this unit have a mental health diagnosis, are often inconsistent with their medication, and may often be unhoused. Qualified individuals for these positions will have a passion for helping others, the ability to be patient, and a desire to see them succeed. All applicants must be able to provide a current medical assistant certification in order to be considered. Here are some of the duties: Become proficient in understanding the most common medications that are prescribed including knowing the symptoms that are typically being treated as well as the common side effects Create a medication administration record from the provider’s orders for each client Successfully administer medications and facilitate self-administration of medication and document on the medication administration record Count medication and record appropriately Adhere to all guidelines regarding storage and disposal of medications Serve as a liaison between clients and the medical team including the nursing manager and the prescriber Become proficient in documenting in the electronic health record Facilitate and document groups about topics such as the activities of daily living and medication management Prepare for and complete intakes including consent forms, search, inventory of property, and other related duties Complete 15-minute observation logs for every client on the unit Accompany clients to meals, outdoor breaks, and other areas throughout the facility as needed Assist in discharge process for clients as needed including re-inventorying their belongings Audit client charts and medication administration records as requested Be comfortable dealing with individuals who have experienced significant amounts of trauma and be prepared to assist in verbally de-escalating clients Be able to collaborate well with other team members as well as be a part of an interdisciplinary team Qualifications
