The Claims Manager, Commercial Casualty will be responsible for:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Active oversight of claims currently managed by a Third Party
Administrator as well as direct
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽handling of an active inventory of primary and excess claims related to
policies written out of聽the Commercial Casualty Profit Center
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽in various jurisdictions
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Performing prompt coverage analysis and determination, investigation
into liability and defenses, and timely reserve evaluations
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform audits through claim systems and on-site visits
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Required to attend mediations, settlement conferences, etc. to negotiate
cost-effective settlements and attend trials on an "as needed" basis
路聽聽聽聽聽 聽聽 Provide timely and meaningful information to underwriters, actuaries and
reinsurers to update them regarding losses which could impact Starr's
policies
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree required. JD preferred but not required
- 7 - 10 years of experience in handling general liability claims and/or relevant litigation experience聽
- Prior experience evaluating complex coverage issues related to CGL policies
- Experience working with and managing TPAs
- Demonstrated success managing litigation, evaluating and negotiating claims, involving both property damage and bodily injury exposures
- Customer focus with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented
- High degree of personal organization and time management skills
- Pro-active. Must have a sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize and perform successfully in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Some travel is required and will vary depending on business needs and caseload
