Placing Manager

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within our organization; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Provide strategic leadership of rebar placing operations at branch and job site levels while coordinating with sales and operational teams to achieve safety, productivity, and profitability goals.

Purpose:

Provide leadership and oversight of rebar placing operations to ensure all installation work is executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This role supports growth through effective execution of supply-and-install strategies, development of placing teams, collaboration with sales and operations, and continuous improvement of field performance.

Basic Functions:

  • Adhere to all company safety programs, policies, and standards.
  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with the values and vision of a leading steel producer.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by leading by example and maintaining a visible commitment to job site safety.
  • Ensure placing work is performed in compliance with all safety, production, and quality requirements.
  • Communicate placing expectations clearly to contractors and customers.
  • Pre-plan work activities to ensure appropriate labor, tools, equipment, and resources are in place.
  • Collaborate with sales and operational leadership to identify and support strategic growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with modular and placing teams to ensure successful execution of supply-and-install strategies.
  • Coordinate with branch and department leaders to develop effective detailing, fabrication, and installation plans that support safe and profitable job execution.
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships in coordination with branch teams.
  • Support sales and bidding strategies that promote integrated supply-and-install solutions.
  • Share best practices across teams and assist with implementation as appropriate.
  • Review safety and production results on projects to identify improvement opportunities and support corrective actions.
  • Communicate regularly with branch leadership regarding safety performance, bidding activity, awards, productivity, and profitability.
  • Support development of succession plans and provide training opportunities for team members with growth potential.
  • Coach supervisors and foremen to drive performance, accountability, and alignment with company values.
  • Partner with billing teams to ensure all billable work is accurately captured and invoiced.
  • Communicate company policies and procedures clearly and ensure adherence across placing operations.
  • Assist with development of annual budgets aligned with market share and operational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the local construction and business community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • At least 10 years of experience in rebar installation, including a minimum of 5 years of experience pricing installation work.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role, including pricing and managing work.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the reinforcing steel market.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • STSC Certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

What You Need to Know:

  • Travel and frequent job site visits are required.
  • Personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and arm guards must be worn on jobsites and will be provided.
  • Work schedules may include hours and workdays beyond the normal business day.

Physical Demands:

  • Typical office activities.
  • Walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
  • Using hands to operate tools, computers, and other electronic equipment.
  • Lifting and handling computers and related equipment.
  • Vision abilities including close vision and adjusting focus.
  • Moderate noise level.
