About You: 

 

You possess extensive knowledge of ISO homeowners' policies, supplemental products, coverages, and endorsements, and apply solid risk assessment, eligibility, coverage, and rating analysis skills on a case-by-case basis with strong attention to detail. You apply state-specific and geographic knowledge to resolve unique underwriting exposures and challenges, and have strong proficiency in technical underwriting, compliance, and products. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are self-motivated with a drive to grow and develop within the underwriting field.

About This Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Property Underwriter to join our team. The Property Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and assessing risk to determine homeowners' policy eligibility. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions based on established guidelines and policies.

What You'll Do: 

  • Underwrite new and renewal homeowners' line of business.
  • Analyze risk information and make specific recommendations for additional actions such as inspections, loss prevention, etc.
  • Address queries from other departments, such as claims, billing, and customer support. Act within your underwriting authority and escalate issues if necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with various distribution partners and leadership to resolve underwriting matters.
  • Recommend improvements to the underwriting process to underwriting managers and technology counterparts.

What You Bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in P&C Homeowners underwriting
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience 
  • Strong technical underwriting, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Experience in underwriting in CA and TX markets strongly preferred
  • Wildfire and catastrophic underwriting experience preferred
