MENTAL HEALTH TECH

Position: Mental Health Tech

Department: Inpatient Psychiatric Unit 

Shift: 9AM-9:30PM/ 36 hour per week/ 72 hours per pay period

Facility: Miami Valley Hospital
 

The Mental Health Technician functions under the direction of the Department Manager and is responsible for the direct care of Mental Health patients based on established standards and licensure guidelines.  Responsible for knowledge and implementation of the patient’s treatment plans and the mission and philosophy of Behavioral Health Services.  Effectively interact with patients, significant others, and other health team members while providing care within the established guidelines.

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate DegreeAssociate degree

Additional requirements:

 Type of degree: Associates or Bachelor's Associates or Bachelor’s

Area of study or major: Mental Health Technology, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Current healthcare provider CPR certification required.  NVCI certification required within the first 90 days of hire.

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience No prior job-related work experience

Preferred experience: 1-3 years of job related experience

Knowledge/Skills

General knowledge of human behaviors, abnormal and developmental psychology.  Must be knowledgeable regarding care of mental health patients and work collaboratively with others.  Must demonstrate competency in listed major duties and responsibilities of job description.
