Description

Under direct supervision, oversees the operation and production of a number of tables and other assembly devices producing materials and parts for assembly into a variety of wood based components.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble precut wooden parts to build trusses and similar supports.
  • Move specified precut parts to work area and positions parts in jig by hand.
  • Following supervisor’s’ instructions and blueprint specifications.
  • Places metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints connect parts at joints, using hammer, pneumatic staple gun.
  • Verifies dimensions of precut parts and accuracy of assembly.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of construction tools and practices a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures while performing lumber handling and sawing tasks
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints.
  • Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools

  • Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 120 pounds.
  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
