Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher for a full-time, in-person position in Dearborn, MI for the 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs through individualized instruction and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Adapt instruction to meet students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional needs.
Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies.
Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral goals.

Qualifications

Must be fully licensed. Substitute licensure will not suffice.

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Michigan Temporary Teaching Authorization (T2EA).
Appropriate Michigan Special Education endorsement.
Experience working with students receiving special education services preferred.
Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance requirements.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Commitment to student-centered instruction and inclusive educational practices.
