Design Hire is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering complex building and infrastructure projects across a range of technical environments. This opportunity offers a strong platform for an experienced engineer to contribute to mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and process systems while working closely with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders. The team combines technical expertise with practical project delivery to develop solutions that meet demanding client and facility requirements.

 

Objective

Provide senior-level mechanical engineering leadership throughout project development, translating client requirements into coordinated engineering solutions while supporting successful project execution from initial planning through construction.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and process piping systems design for new construction, renovation, and facility projects.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, engineering reports, and design analysis to support project requirements and technical decisions.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis and evaluate alternative engineering approaches to support efficient, practical project solutions.
  • Develop and coordinate mechanical drawings and technical deliverables using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Support mechanical project scheduling, project financial management, and proposal writing while coordinating deliverables with multidisciplinary teams.

 

Qualifications

  • Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with a recognized architectural/engineering services firm is preferred.
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering principles and building systems.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary projects from conceptual development through construction.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, project requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and provide sound technical judgment.
