Responsible for performing routine histology procedures including, but not limited to, specimen processing, quality control, recording of results, documentation and maintenance of equipment under the supervision of the pathologist and histology section supervisor. Responsible to; embed and cut quality tissue sections, routine and special staining, and cytology. Required to assist in maintaining department inventory in a cost effective manner. Required to maintain histology/cytology areas in clean and sanitary condition. Required to prepare solutions, chemicals and reagents as necessary. Assist in Cytology when needed. Assist Pathologists when needed for frozen sections, EBUS and EUS FNA. Responsible for specimen retrieval and accessioning.


Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED, or highest level of education. Preferred Bachelor's/Associate of Science. Training as required to obtain Histology Technician eligible status. Required on job training or completion of approved training program in histology.

 

Prefer three (3) years of technical experience

 

ASCP registered or registry eligible Histology Technician. Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent required on hire.

 

Must have ability to read and write. Use basic computer software problems.
