The role you’ll contribute: 

Assists the pathologist in the daily operations of the Anatomic Pathology laboratory. Performs all basic histology functions in the preparation of tissue samples for examination including but not limited to embedding, cutting, staining, and frozen sections. Processes specimens for pathologic diagnosis, tissue fixation, processing, preparing, and staining slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist. Participates in quality control, quality assurance, and training new staff. Additionally, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Histology lab in the absence of a Supervisor or Senior Technologist, ensuring adherence to clinical laboratory standards and regulations. Performs competency-validated procedures ordered by appropriate medical staff and physician, contributing to the accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients. Bachelors/Associates in: Medical laboratory technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or histology field. Florida License-Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

  • Receives and accessions tissue samples into the lab computer system checking for accuracy of paperwork.

  • Processes and prepares samples for testing for send-outs as well as in-house testing.

  • Prepares appropriate cassettes, processes, embeds and cuts tissues appropriately preparing slides.

  • Performs routine H & E Stains on slides and special stains as ordered by pathologist.

  • Associate’s degree

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1+ work experience

  • Clinical Lab Technologist

  • Histotechnologist (HTLASCP)
