DF AY26/27 Athletics Communications

Job Description:

The Regis Athletics Department is looking for students to assist the Athletics Communications staff with gameday and office responsibilities. Duties include gameday statistics, photo and video camera operations, livestream management (with on-air opportunities), content creation (social media, game recaps, special interest stories), and other duties as assigned. Home events are primarily in the evenings and the weekends and may include some holidays. Office hours may be assigned, working around class and practice/game schedules.

Report times

  • Student workers will attend a mandatory orientation meeting at the beginning of every school year to discuss expectations and to help answer any questions. The orientation will also explain how to sign up for shifts and how to report your hours every week.

  • Student workers will report to home matches approximately 1-2 hours before the start of each game to help with set-up. Students are expected to work the duration of the event unless otherwise noted.

Game Day Duties       

PREGAME:

  • Set up the necessary equipment needed for each home game. Items include specific game day equipment (soccer goals, lacrosse goals, etc), chairs, tables, scoreboards, shot clocks, and audio and video equipment          

STATISTICS

  • Assist the official statistician with gameday statistics by calling game action

  • Operate official replay

  • Live tweet updates from the @RegisRangers account

  • Run box scores and stats to teams and coaches  

BROADCASTING

  • Operate the live stream computer

    Updating the scoreboard

    Switching between cameras

    Running commercials

    Show relevant graphics

    Work with the Play-by-play and color commentators to create the best possible product

  • Operate different cameras, capturing game action

  • Opportunities to be on-air talent (play-by-play, color commentary, sideline reporting)     

PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Use department cameras to capture in-game action to be used on the website, and social media accounts

           

            POSTGAME:

  • Help staff collect and put away all equipment back to storage areas        

Office Duties  

CONTENT CREATION

  • Visual:

    Create graphics and videos to be used on department website and social media accounts

    Assist with athletics media days and headshot days

  • Written:

    Create game recaps, special interest stories, and other press releases for the department

Who Should Apply

  • Students interested in journalism, social media, broadcasting, graphic design, video creation, marketing, or photography. Athletics experience not required

  • Strong written and verbal communicators. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Adaptable and problem solving skills

  • Experience with Adobe, Canva, and social media platforms is great, but not required. Willing to train motivated and engaged students

  • Must be able to work in poor weather conditions (heat, snow, rain, etc) and be able to lift 50lbs.
