The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for employees, guests, and visitors at the Pistons Performance Center. This role supports security operations during events and daily operations through access control, patrols, surveillance, incident response, and customer service.


The ideal candidate is professional, observant, calm under pressure, and committed to providing exceptional service while protecting people and property.


What You'll Do

  • Monitor facility entrances, exits, and access points to verify credentials and authorization.
  • Conduct security patrols and visual inspections to identify safety, security, and fire/life safety concerns.
  • Monitor CCTV, access control, visitor management, and other security systems as needed.
  • Protect employees, guests, visitors, and facility property from unauthorized access, theft, damage, and other security concerns.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, including injuries and potential safety or security threats.
  • Investigate incidents, gather information, interview involved parties, and complete accurate incident reports.
  • Assist with parking and event security operations as needed.
  • Provide basic first aid and support emergency response efforts when necessary.
  • Enforce company policies related to access, property removal, and facility security.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and responsive service to employees, guests, and visitors.
  • Maintain knowledge of security procedures, emergency protocols, and site-specific requirements.
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, fire/medical services, or a related field required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills, particularly during emergencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact with employees, guests, visitors, and security team members.
  • Familiarity with CCTV, access control, visitor management, and other security systems.
  • Ability to safely bend, lift, and perform physical duties required of the position.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to physical confrontations and use minimal force when necessary and consistent with company policy.
  • Must successfully pass required background and motor vehicle history checks.
