Role Overview

The Shipping / Quality Team Member supports final inspection, hardness testing, material preparation, and shipment of forgings in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for verifying product readiness, completing required shipping and quality documentation, preparing material for shipment, and safely operating material handling equipment. The position supports quality, traceability, customer requirements, and timely movement of finished forgings to carriers or the next required destination.                  

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform BHN hardness testing by grinding and polishing forgings and ensuring testing instruments are within calibration standards.
  • Review and understand process paperwork to support final inspection and verify forgings meet applicable customer specifications.
  • Complete final inspection activities and support quality checks before shipment.
  • Mark, paint, palletize, band, and prepare forgings for shipment.
  • Handle shipping paperwork and coordinate documentation with carriers as required.
  • Load forgings safely and accurately for shipment.
  • Operate overhead cranes, lift trucks, and manipulators in accordance with safety expectations.
  • Maintain work area organization, housekeeping, and safe handling practices throughout shipping and quality activities.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and understand process paperwork, shipping documentation, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to perform quality checks, final inspection support, and hardness testing activities accurately.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate overhead cranes, lift trucks, and manipulators.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, traceability, documentation accuracy, and housekeeping standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with shipping, quality, production, and carrier contacts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Shipping experience in a manufacturing, forging, steel, or comparable industrial environment.
  • Experience with ISO systems, quality documentation, inspection records, or customer specification requirements.
  • Experience preparing heavy material for shipment, including marking, painting, palletizing, banding, and loading.
  • Prior experience operating overhead cranes, lift trucks, or manipulators.

Work Environment   

This position works in a manufacturing, shipping, and quality environment with regular interaction on the shop floor. The role requires attention to safety, equipment awareness, material handling activity, inspection accuracy, and consistent communication with production employees, quality personnel, shipping contacts, and carriers.
