Student Intern 1 - 3

The Department of Health, Human, and Veterans Services (HHVS), housed within the County Executive Office, is comprised of the Director’s Office and six operational divisions: Public Health, Clinical Care Services, Access to Care (Health Choice), Medical Examiner’s Office, Transition Services, and Veterans Services. The mission of HHVS is to promote health and well-being for all Wayne County residents through programs, policies, and partnerships that address gaps in access and opportunity across the lifespan.

HHVS Summer Fellowship Program Overview

The HHVS Summer Fellowship is designed to cultivate the next generation of public health leaders while advancing departmental priorities.

Program Goals

  • Strengthen the public health workforce pipeline.
  • Support HHVS divisions in achieving strategic priorities.
  • Promote equity-driven public health practice.
  • Expand collaboration and inter-departmental partnerships.
  • Model accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.

 

Program Details

  • Duration: Eight (8) weeks
  • Dates: June 2 through July 24, 2026
  • Schedule: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week
  • Fellows are placed within HHVS operational divisions or the Director’s Office under the guidance of experienced public service professionals.

Supervision or Guidance Received

Interns will be supervised by a preceptor, who may be the Division Director, Department Officer, or designee.
