Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Co-op to join our Chemical Process Research & Development team for a 6-month term. This role will provide hands-on experience in both flow and batch chemistry, supporting the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. The Co-op will assist in experimental design, execution, and data analysis, contributing to process optimization and scale-up studies.

Our Co-op program includes a 6-month placement at our Devens, MA location, from July to December 2026.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Accurate documentation of batch and flow reaction procedures and data.
  • Assistance in setting and scaling up and operating flow chemistry equipment.
  • Collection and organization of electronic data from Process Analytical Technologies (PAT).
  • Contribution to discussions on process optimization based on experimental data.
  • Presentation of project findings and lessons learned to the department.
  • Completion of all final documentation and project closeout tasks.

Project Scope:

  • Participate in safety training sessions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Define reaction conditions, solvent selection, and workup process for batch and flow chemistry experiments from literature and internal reports.
  • Appropriate selection of Vapourtec, and EasyMax reactors, heat exchangers, solvents, and pumps.
  • Record experimental data accurately and maintain detailed laboratory notebooks. Collaborate with process chemists and engineers in day-to-day laboratory activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the team. Operate automated chemistry workstations and Process Analytical Technologies (PAT).
  • Prepare and deliver a presentation summarizing project contributions and findings.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field
  • Minimum Overall GPA of 2.7 required
  • Previous co-op, internship, or related work experience preferred
