Job DetailsJob Location: Doral 5605 NW 82ND Avenue - Doral, FL 33166Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $19.81 - $19.81 HourlyJob Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesPOSITION SUMMARY: Person in this position is responsible for working with patients struggling with one or more multiple behavioral health problems and provide triage, crisis counseling, implement treatment plans, monitor their progress, and ensure that the care environment is safe and supportive. Behavioral Health Technician operates as a backup to the Licensed Mental Health Clinician that goes out to an in-person MRT crisis call. Job Functions include those listed below. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Works with individuals, families, and groups to provide outreach, emotional support, individual and group crisis counseling. • Provides warm hand off to community resources, services, and supports. • Triages phone calls and provides community resource information as well as supportive counseling. • Conducts screening and assessments and provides intervention services. • Engages individuals and families in the crisis planning process using evidenced based practices including Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid. • Develops safety or crisis care plan. • Facilitates stabilization and are coordination services post-acute intervention. • Coordinates psychiatric face-to-face or telehealth appointments with psychiatrist within 48 hours of intervention. • Provides after hours crisis services on a rotation schedule . • Transports individuals to designated receiving facilities under a voluntary or involuntary status, if deemed safe to transport, if the individual does not have other transportation options available and agrees to be transported by the MRT. • Interacts with management to gather and provide information. • Completes all orientation and mandated training activities, including E-Learning Courses, within required timeframes, and in accordance with the criteria established for this position. • Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and • Perform all other duties as assigned. QualificationsESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience and Competencies: Excellent communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Ability to work well in a team environment. Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality. Professional appearance and demeanor. Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served. Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from DCF. Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required. During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One (1) to three (3) years of experience in behavioral health crisis services. Familiarity with Monroe County. Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field is preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Registered Behavioral Technician Certification is strongly preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in a professional office/residential setting. Some outdoor activities may be required. Some travel is required.
