BASIC RESPONSIBILITY:

The Direct Service Provider in culinary arts will provide training, supervision and instructions to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a commercial kitchen setting. The DSP in culinary arts will report to the Program Innovation Leader (PIL) and Director of Programs/Executive Chef.聽

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Supervise 聽聽聽聽聽and train participants in skills related to foodservice that support the 聽聽聽聽聽individuals needs and program goals.聽
  2. Actively engage with 聽聽聽聽聽participants in daily activities that support a person-centered approach 聽聽聽聽聽and supports the participant鈥檚 individual program goals.
  3. Assist the 聽聽聽聽聽Executive Chef, PIL and participants with fulfilling daily and/or weekly 聽聽聽聽聽menus.聽
  4. Ensure environments meet health 聽聽聽聽聽and safety requirements by maintaining clean and orderly environment at 聽聽聽聽聽all times. Report any health and safety concerns to supervisors. 聽
  5. Complete documentation including 聽聽聽聽聽but not limited to: daily logs, incident reports, and attendance logs, 聽聽聽聽聽outing forms and transportation logs.
  6. Promote community integration by 聽聽聽聽聽ensuring participants have full access to the community through outings, 聽聽聽聽聽field trips, and attending special events.
  7. Ensures the safety and 聽聽聽聽聽well-being of all program participants at all times by following 聽聽聽聽聽organizational policies, procedures, actively monitoring environments, 聽聽聽聽聽having consistent headcounts and responding promptly to any concerns or 聽聽聽聽聽incidents.
  8. Follow all program and 聽聽聽聽聽organizational duties and procedures in an ethical and professional 聽聽聽聽聽manner.
  9. Ensure compliance with all 聽聽聽聽聽Licensing, CARF, Regional Center and The Arc policies and procedures.
  10. Support the 聽聽聽聽聽emotional, physical and personal well-being of all individuals served.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

General:

路 Must be at least 18 years of age.

路 Must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check.

路 Hold a current California driver鈥檚 license, able to drive a passenger van and have a clean driving record.聽

路 Can lift a minimum of 45lbs.

路 Strong communication and teambuilding skills.

路 Willingness to learn and be flexible to changing State and program requirements.聽

路 Able to be patient and work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a respectful and professional manner.

路 Strong computer skills and able to navigate programs for data entry and recording.

路 Organizational skills with attention to detail.

路 Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

路 Must have a high school diploma or GED, some college preferred.聽

路 Able to work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

路 Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English. Bilingual preferred.

路 Able to successfully complete organizational provided Red Cross First Aid and CPR Training.

路 Experience with providing group supervision of a minimum of 4 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

路 Able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate within 3 months

路 Minimum of 1 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen or food industry
