Your Internship Experience

Interns will actively participate in a dynamic learning environment that includes observation, supervised client interactions, and case management support.

You'll gain exposure to the services provided to children and families, including:

  • Observing and assisting with client assessments in real-life settings
  • Identifying client strengths, needs, and goals
  • Supporting the development and implementation of case plans
  • Participating in case staffing and treatment planning
  • Coordinating services with community partners
  • Learning professional documentation and report preparation

Children, Youth, and Family Services Interns may:

  • Assist with home visits, court appearances, and family meetings
  • Document contacts with parents, collaterals, and professionals
  • Participate in team meetings, consultations, and group supervision
  • Review case files, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Transport youth and parents to appointments
  • Assist with child abuse and neglect assessments
  • Connect families with valuable community resources

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, you must:

  • Be enrolled and in good standing at an accredited university in a bachelor's degree program
  • Understand that this internship does not include clinical practice
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Complete a physical exam, including TB screening
  • Obtain required criminal clearances, including State Police, FBI, and State Child Abuse clearances
  • Successfully complete background and reference checks
  • Demonstrate basic computer proficiency
  • Be available primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends
