Position Summary:

 

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is responsible to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents providing excellence and innovation in aging services. The primary role of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is to assist in providing appropriate aspects of quality patient care under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapist.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Implement and execute an established patient treatment plan under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
  • Monitor a patient’s progress to make sure they are successfully tolerating and completing treatment.
  • Help patients improve their quality of life by finding solutions to their problems.
  • Communicate with patients, families, referring physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team.Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements.
  • Develop and enhance clinical and professional skills through knowledge and professional associations.
  • Have a working knowledge of medicare and other payor sources.
  • have full knowledge of resident’s rights.
  • Exude professionalism in presentation.
  • Perform other duties required.

Qualifications and Education requirements: 

  • An active Occupational Therapy Assistant  with PA license
  • Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum/2-Year Educational Program in Occupational Therapy
  • Pass the Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistant prepared and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • 24 hours of continued competency for licensure renewal.
