Summary: Career Assistants create a welcoming environment as the first point of contact for Career Services (in person, via email, or over the phone). Assistants will guide peers toward appropriate career resources, events, and online tools in addition to assisting students in scheduling appointments or registering for events. Alongside general office and event support during each shift, every Career Assistant will be matched with a secondary specialty area to help you build specific, resume-boosting skills and contribute to the success of the office. These areas typically include:

  • Peer Education: Teaching peers about resumes, cover letters, Handshake and LinkedIn and providing feedback and edits on these items.

  • Social Media & Marketing: Planning and creating content and strategies to boost engagement and promote Career Services initiatives and event support.

  • Data & Technology: Tracking and managing office data through various technology platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current CSS student

  • Federal or State Work-Study eligibility is required

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Show skill and willingness to interact with a wide variety of people in a friendly, professional manner

  • A proven track record of responsible decision-making, punctuality, and self-motivation

  • An interest in and comfort with working in Google Docs, Gmail, Excel, Microsoft Word, and learning software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or guiding peers.

  • Academic coursework, personal experience, or demonstrated skills in writing and editing.

  • Academic coursework, personal experience, or experience in social media, Canva, Saints Life

  • Academic coursework, personal experience, or demonstrated skills in working with technology systems and managing data

Positions are typically 6-12 hours per week.
