Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: Bagging Plant - EC - El Campo, TX, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 2 Year Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Skilled Labor - Trades, Primary Purpose:The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, controls, motors, and equipment throughout United Agricultural Cooperative facilities.This position provides hands-on electrical support for United Ag's agricultural and operations, including grain elevators, feed and bagging operations, cotton facilities, warehouses, retail facilities, and other company locations.The Electrician plays an important role in minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining safe, reliable operations. The successful employee must demonstrate strong electrical troubleshooting abilities, mechanical aptitude, safety awareness, and the ability to respond effectively to operational needs, particularly during peak agricultural seasons.Education, Licensing & Experience:Required High school diploma or equivalent. Current Texas electrician license appropriate for assigned duties. Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems. Ability to read electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.Preferred Current Texas Journeyman Electrician License. Electrical experience. Agricultural, grain, feed mill, cotton gin, manufacturing, or production-facility experience. Experience with three-phase electrical systems. Experience troubleshooting motors and motor-control systems. Experience with PLC-controlled equipment. Experience troubleshooting and working with VFDs. Experience with automation and control systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Electrical Maintenance & Repair Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, wiring, fixtures, controls, and components. Diagnose electrical problems involving motors, circuits, control systems, machinery, and production equipment. Install and repair conduit, wiring, disconnects, breakers, panels, motor controls, and related electrical components. Troubleshoot and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical systems. Test electrical systems and components using appropriate diagnostic and electrical testing equipment. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, diagrams, equipment manuals, and blueprints. Assist with new equipment installations, facility modifications, and electrical improvement projects. Perform preventative and predictive electrical maintenance to reduce equipment failures and operational downtime. Maintain appropriate documentation of repairs, maintenance, materials, and completed work.Industrial Controls; PLCs & VFDs Troubleshoot and support equipment utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). Diagnose electrical and control-related equipment failures. Assist with troubleshooting PLC inputs/outputs, sensors, relays, contactors, motor starters, control circuits, and associated equipment. Troubleshoot, configure, reset, and replace VFDs within the employee's level of training and authorization. Work with equipment manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and technical support when advanced troubleshooting or programming is required. Develop working knowledge of United Ag's automated equipment and control systems. Complete company-required PLC, VFD, controls, equipment, and safety training following hire.Agricultural & Production EquipmentProvide electrical support for equipment that may include: Grain handling and elevator systems Conveyors and augers Bucket elevators Feed mill and bagging equipment Motors and motor control systems Pumps and fans Compressors Cotton gin and warehouse equipment Automated production equipment Lighting and facility electrical systems Other agricultural machineryEmergency & Seasonal Operational Support Respond promptly to electrical failures affecting production or facility operations. Troubleshoot equipment downtime and work safely and efficiently to restore operations. Coordinate repairs with facility managers and operational employees. Participate in an on-call rotation or emergency response as assigned. Work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays when operational needs require. Provide additional availability during grain, cotton, and other peak agricultural seasons.Safety & Compliance Perform electrical work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, regulations, manufacturer requirements, and United Ag safety procedures. Follow established lockout/tagout and electrical safe work practices. Properly use PPE and electrical testing equipment. Identify and immediately address or report electrical hazards and unsafe conditions. Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition. Coordinate with United Ag Safety and Operations personnel, as required. Maintain required licenses, credentials, and company-required training.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Knowledge of electrical systems and motor controls. Working knowledge of PLCs and VFDs preferred. Ability to safely use electrical meters, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to troubleshoot problems under production pressure. Ability to prioritize emergency repairs and routine maintenance. Ability to communicate effectively with operators, managers, vendors, and contractors. Ability to work independently across multiple United Ag locations. Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.Physical & Environmental RequirementsThis position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and working in physically demanding positions.
