Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - PT/PRN

Job DetailsJob Location: Electra Rehab & Fitness - Electra, TX 76360   Under the supervision of the established occupational therapist, provides occupational therapy treatment, documents treatments and charges, and assists in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Instruct, prepare, and reassure patient of treatment being performed. Perform treatments on patients at their scheduled times. Monitor and ensure patient safety during treatments. Transport patients to and from department in a safe manner. Provide care appropriate for the patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Assess and interpret data on the patient’s status to identify patients’ requirements relative to their age specific needs and provide care needed as stipulated in departmental policy. Maintain records associated with patient's treatments. Record treatment results and progress notes accurately and legibly in patient charts. Communicate information to supervisor on patient’s treatment progress as directed. Assist in maintaining logs, charge tickets, and reports. Maintain stock levels of supplies and required equipment. Ensure inventory is adequately stocked with supplies necessary for efficient operation. Perform the sterilization of equipment and work area. Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and ensure equipment is properly stored after use. Report equipment problems to Rehabilitation Director. OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS: Maintain confidentiality on a daily basis. Work well with other employees. Perform other functions and tasks as assigned. Follow standard precautions when providing direct patient care. WHY EHD? EXPERIENCE: One year experience as a certified occupational therapy assistant preferred. PERSONAL JOB-RELATED SKILLS: Knowledge of occupational therapy procedures and equipment. Effective oral and written communication skills.  Familiar with operating computers and ability to utilize computer systems.  LICENSURE, REGISTRY, CERTIFICATIONS: Current Occupational Therapy Assistant License in the State of Texas or certification/licensure eligible required. Current CPR certification required. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking. Repeated bending, stooping, and reaching. Pushing and pulling up to 150 pounds and carrying up to 75 pounds. Lifting to 75 pounds and heavier lifting in transferring or supporting who may suddenly become weak or helpless. The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
