PositionĀ Summary:Ā 

  • Prepares patients for procedures per physician orders and established protocols, including NPO verification andĀ site confirmation.Ā 

  • Initiates IV access, administers pre-procedure medications, and prepares contrast agents or procedural medications as ordered.Ā 

  • AssistsĀ physicians during procedural and interventional radiology cases,Ā anticipatingĀ needs andĀ maintainingĀ sterile or asepticĀ techniques.Ā 

  • Monitors patients throughout procedures, including vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, level of consciousness, and pain.Ā 

  • Administers medications, IV fluids, and moderate sedation perĀ providerĀ orders and organizational policy.Ā 

  • Provides post-procedure recovery and monitoring until discharge criteria are met.Ā 

Ā 

Quality, Safety, and Compliance:Ā 

Ā 

  • Adheres to state nurse practice acts, ASC accreditation standards (AAAHC), and radiation safety requirements.Ā 

  • Ensures compliance with infection prevention, sterile technique, and contrast safety protocols.Ā 

  • Follows radiation safety practices, includingĀ useĀ of personal protective equipment (PPE) and monitoring devices whenĀ required.Ā 

  • ParticipatesĀ in performance improvement initiatives, regulatory surveys, and emergency preparedness drills.Ā 

Ā 

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Ā 

Ā 

  • Education – bachelor's degree, RN certified. PreferredĀ 

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state ofĀ practiceĀ 

  • CPR, ACLS/BLS.Ā 

  • 5+ yrs. experience, preferably in Interventional Radiology, emergency/critical medicine and/or code team experienceĀ preferred.Ā
