Assists in de-escalation incidents at the instruction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for reporting safety concerns found during regular rounding of the facility. Responsible for competing required documentation on safety concerns.     Position Responsibilities: Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review) Makes rounds of the entire campus observing for safety hazards and observes for escalating behaviors Monitors conduct of patients on facility grounds Monitors vehicle movement and parking on campus Responds to all crisis situations, including appropriate codes, related to facility functions and works closely with the charge nurse of the unit Assists others with belongings checks and documents belongings/contraband Conducts units safety rounds each shift Assists nursing staff in searching for residents who have eloped Submits all requested reports on a timely basis Has complete knowledge of the fire and disaster procedures Perform other duties as assigned.   Safety (15% of performance review) Strives to create a safe, healing environment for patients and family members Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports near misses, as well as errors and accidents promptly. Corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace. Attends all required safety programs and understands responsibilities related to general, department, and job specific safety. Participates in quality projects, as assigned, and supports quality initiatives. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.   Teamwork (15% of performance review) Works well with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification, provided during orientation. Preferred: Associates degree Maintains education and development appropriate for position.     Experience Required: Three to five years previous security experience Preferred: Previous experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting
