About the Role

The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and sanitary preparation and distribution of meals within the Evansville JC McKenna Middle School environment. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety while supporting the kitchen team in daily operations. The role requires consistent attention to detail to ensure that all food items are prepared and served according to established guidelines and nutritional standards. The Food Service Worker contributes to creating a positive dining experience for students and staff by providing timely and courteous service. Job Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with established menus and portion sizes.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and dining areas, including equipment and utensils.

Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure safe food handling.

Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies and inventory management.

Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate meal service and address any issues promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to understand and speak English to follow instructions and communicate effectively.

Demonstrated manual dexterity to handle food preparation and kitchen equipment safely.

Capability to stand for extended periods during meal preparation and service.

Knowledge of basic sanitization practices to maintain a clean and safe food service environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a food service or cafeteria setting.

Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe).

Familiarity with school nutrition programs and regulations.
