Front Counter Sales

The Front Counter Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting customers with purchasing lumber, building materials, hardware, and related products. This position requires a friendly, helpful attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance with product selection and purchases.
• Process customer orders, sales transactions, returns, and payments accurately.
• Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers with product questions, pricing, and availability.
• Prepare quotes and assist with special orders as needed.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of lumber, building materials, hardware, and other products.
• Assist with stocking shelves, monitoring inventory, and maintaining an organized sales area.
• Build positive relationships with customers, coworkers, and other departments.
• Address customer concerns professionally and involve management when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous customer service, retail, or sales experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lumber and building materials is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn point-of-sale systems.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work effectively in a team environment.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to learn.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work in a retail and lumberyard environment.
