Oversee the daily business functions of the assigned division or district section that may include financial management, project accounting and/or procurement activities. Perform special duties as assigned.

How you will contribute:
  • Administrative and Business Support: Provide a variety of administrative support functions to assigned work unit. Interpret a variety of VDOT, State and Federal policies and procedures in daily work tasks.
  • Fiscal and Budget: Coordinate financial and budgetary activities for assigned work unit. Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, reconcile data, and prepare reports.
  • Perform duties as assigned.: Perform duties, tasks, activities and/or projects as assigned.
  • Procurement: Develop, coordinate, and oversee Division or District specific contracts that support the delivery of the core program. Review invoices and vouchers, make payments and reconcile data.


  • What will make you successful:
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles and practices.
  • Skill in the use of computers and web-based systems including electronic procurement and financial management systems.
  • Skilled with MS Office specifically Excel.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups.
  • Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Ability to research, analyze, format financial data, and prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles and practices.

  • Additional Considerations:
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field desired.
  • Knowledge of federal and state accounting principles and practices.
  • Prior work experience with financial management systems.
  • VCO or VCA certification desired.
