Buyer – Fairfield, OH

Summary

The Buyer plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day purchasing operations at the DSG-Canusa Fairfield facility by ensuring the timely and accurate procurement of materials, supplies, and services that keep production moving. This role focuses on managing a high volume of smaller, non-core purchases and Kanban-driven inventory needs, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and system accuracy. Success in this position directly impacts operational continuity, inventory optimization, and team efficiency in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute MRP-based purchasing activities within the ERP system by analyzing demand, inventory levels, and open orders to ensure accurate requisitions and supply alignment
  • Process non-MRP purchase requests, including smaller and ad hoc orders, ensuring proper setup of suppliers and non-inventory items in the system
  • Generate purchase orders, coordinate delivery schedules, track order status, and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials and supplies are available to meet production needs without stockouts
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date ERP system data, including pricing, purchase order status, and inventory parameters
  • Resolve supplier issues such as shortages, late deliveries, or incorrect shipments through direct communication and follow-up
  • Partner closely with operations, engineering, and procurement teams to support purchasing needs across the site
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance purchasing processes, data accuracy, and efficiency
  • Act as a reliable point of coordination between suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education preferred
  • 3–5 years of hands-on purchasing or sourcing experience required

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Experience working in ERP/MRP systems and managing purchase orders through the full purchasing lifecycle
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (e.g., data analysis and lookups)
  • Understanding of inventory management principles within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of sourcing processes, supplier coordination, and order tracking
