Position Summary

This position delivers exceptional customer service to all students, faculty, members and guests. The Facility Aide is responsible for providing a clean, safe, and friendly environment for all patrons.

MAJOR DUTIES


• Greet/communicate with patrons, co-workers and management in a polite and respectful manner.


• Monitor member check-in’s, issue and clean equipment behind front counter.


• Clean workout equipment, clean floors, empty trash and restock wipes.


• Monitor activities and enforce policy within the HHPC including the lobby, fitness conditioning center, boxing room, dance room, group exercise room, and gymnasium to ensure the safety of members.


• Create, issue and verify member identification cards.


• Ensure that each member’s account is complete and has picture in Fusion.


• Assist member’s with signing up for the HHPC mobile app.


• Explain and demonstrate proper use of all fitness equipment and answer basic exercise questions to ensure safety of members.


• Respond to members inquiries and needs and provide accurate information regarding procedures and policies, in a friendly and professional manner.


• Work closely with the on-duty shift manager to provide operational support in key areas during peak periods and special events.


• Assist the coordinators in the facilitation of events, including set up and take down.


• Perform daily cleaning duties to maintain health and safety standards, including fitness equipment and operation of commercial washers and dryers.


• May assist in mentoring new employees.


• Assist on-duty Facility Shift Manager with opening and closing, and cleaning the facility.

• May be required to provide shift coverage on short notice.


• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION


• Knowledge of quality customer service standards.


• Knowledge of SJC and HHPC policies.


• Knowledge of best practices with working with the public.


• Knowledge of HHPC fitness equipment, weights, tools, including cleaning and safety standards.


• Knowledge of facility maintenance and proper handling of hazardous materials.


• Skill in problem solving and resolution.


• Skill in the operation of computers, job related software programs, Fusion Point of Sale system, and ID machine.


• Skill in written and oral communication.


• CPR/AED certified, training provided.


SUPERVISORY CONTROLS


The supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions and may require some judgement. The supervisor spot-checks work while in progress and once completed for compliance with detailed and specific instruction as well as, procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.


GUIDELINES


The Guidelines include HHPC Policies, San Juan College Employee Handbook, ADA regulations, and other college and program policies and procedures. These guidelines are clear and specific in their application.


COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK


• The work consists of routine customer service, equipment and facility cleaning, and operational support duties. The variety of work tasks contributes to the complexity of the position.


• The purpose of this position is to provide a clean, safe, and friendly environment for HHPC patrons and provide support for daily operations.

• Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public.

Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT


• The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects The employee occasionally lifts light to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), may climbs ladders.


• The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, and warehouse. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.


SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY


None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.


• CPR/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain through department training.
