POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for conducting repair and schedule preventative maintenance of all material handling equipment and following Maintenance Supervisor and DC Warehouse Manager’s instructions on other daily scheduled tasks.


  • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintaining the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and conveyor systems throughout the DC Warehouse which includes facility related systems.
  • Electrical and components troubleshooting
  • Use of critical thinking skills and a troubleshooting approach to equipment maintenance (electrical controls, motor circuits, process and packaging machinery, programmable controllers and pneumatic components)
  • Problem solver and coach others for maintenance support
  • Work from detail prints, schematics and verbal instructions to repair/replace AC/DC motors, drives, controllers for the following equipment’s: Pallet Jack Walkies, Pallet Jack Riders, Order Picker, Reach truck, Swing Reach, Sit Down W/ Clamp, and others.
  • Determine parts needs and availability, maintain parts stock, determine reasonable substitutions for parts that are unavailable.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to production equipment, troubleshoot and repair.
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel and equipment.
  • Comply with all internal policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administrative rules while working.
  • Oil and grease equipment maintenance.
  • Tests equipment to verify correct operation functions.
  • Complying with lockout/tagout policies and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned outside of specialty area.
  • Responsible for building maintenance and / or coordinating with outside vendor(s)
  • Responsible for picking up parts, proper use of tools, and equipment as needed.
  • Comply with company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Other projects / duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and Manager.
  • Physical activities necessary to perform one or more essential functions of the position such as: changing tires, forks, overhead guards, fuel tanks, and other components.



REQUIRED SKILLS OR EDUCATION

  • MUST possess excellent Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility regarding hours and work schedule, including weekends.
  • Skilled in electrical power/controls and mechanical systems
  • Forklift certified or desire to be certified.
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and respond with appropriate sense of urgency.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate will frequently walk; reach with hands and arms and maneuver around work area throughout the shift.  The associate may also spend a great deal of time sitting, squatting, reaching (at times above head) and using hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel. The Associate is occasionally required to balance, stoop and bends regularly to move/lift material or equipment (typically 50 lbs. or less). 

 

The ability to hear and see with vision abilities in close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing / Production Floor: While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.   The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas. Mechanics may also be required to work in confined spaces, roofs and at ceiling height levels. 

 

Not all areas of the plant and warehouse are climate controlled and exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. In addition, when outside work is required, exposure to extreme heat or cold can occur. The Associate is frequently exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
