Schedule: 8-Hour Weekday Shifts
Pay Range: $31.83–$49.34 per hour
Compensation: Please indicate the lowest hourly rate you are willing to accept through your requested hourly rate.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to provide technical and patient-care support during interventional radiology procedures. The technologist will assist physicians throughout procedures, operate and maintain radiologic equipment, provide radiation protection, monitor patients, assist with moderate sedation, and ensure appropriate documentation and inventory management.

The position requires participation in a rotational on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with all aspects of interventional radiology procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards.
  • Consult with physicians regarding planned procedures and obtain relevant patient history, laboratory values, and clinical information.
  • Greet patients professionally, verify identity using established patient safety identifiers, and introduce yourself.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families, answer questions, and refer clinical questions to the physician when appropriate.
  • Assist physicians in the circulator, scrub technologist, and monitoring roles.
  • Anticipate procedural needs and ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, injection parameters, and imaging settings are available.
  • Complete procedural documentation and post-process images as required.
  • Review patient history and clinical information to identify potential risks or contraindications.
  • Monitor patient vital signs throughout procedures.
  • Administer moderate sedation and other medications according to hospital policy and under appropriate physician supervision.
  • Document medications, patient status, and procedural information accurately.
  • Provide appropriate radiation protection for patients, staff, and yourself in accordance with established safety standards.
  • Use radiation-monitoring devices as required by departmental policy.
  • Adjust imaging factors to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining optimal visualization of anatomy.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of radiologic and interventional imaging equipment.
  • Schedule patients for special procedures and coordinate scheduling with other departments.
  • Maintain daily work logs and conduct appropriate patient follow-up.
  • Communicate schedules and schedule changes effectively with team members.
  • Perform MRA 3D image reconstruction as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and quality-control testing on assigned equipment.
  • Report equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain medication and drug inventories according to established policies.
  • Ensure crash carts and medication boxes are properly stocked, accurately dated, and ready for use.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of catheters, guidewires, and other procedural supplies.
  • Rotate inventory appropriately and remove outdated supplies.
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate code procedures.
  • Provide first aid or CPR when required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to push/pull up to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear a lead apron for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer-service and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients and team members.
  • Experience with electronic health records preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Required Credentials

  • ARRT-RT – Registered Radiologic Technologist
  • BLS – Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification
  • Associate Degree

Schedule

  • 8-hour weekday shifts
  • Rotational on-call coverage required
  • Additional schedule flexibility may be required based on departmental needs
