The Buyer position is part of the Purchasing & Logistics department and is a full-time role working 80 hours per two-week pay period. This position is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and tracking medical and non-medical supplies to support hospital operations. The Buyer manages requisitions, purchase orders, inventory, and vendor records while ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement in compliance with organizational policies. The role works closely with internal departments and vendors to maintain appropriate supply levels and support daily operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, supply chain, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in an office setting, preferably in purchasing or accounting.
- One to three years of purchasing or supply chain experience preferred, ideally in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and other computer applications.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and contract terminology.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supply requisitions and generate purchase orders for hospital departments.
- Track orders and maintain inventory levels in sterile and non-sterile supply locations.
- Maintain accurate records for items, pricing, vendors, and inventory counts.
- Assist with vendor communication and support contract compliance.
- Monitor purchasing activity to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
- Participate in year-end inventory counts and other departmental projects as assigned.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures related to purchasing and logistics.
