Job Description:

As a Controls Engineer, you will be the technical lead for all automated systems within our food production facility. You will design, program, and troubleshoot the hardware and software systems that keep our lines running safely and efficiently. Your goal is to minimize downtime, optimize throughput, and ensure every ounce of product meets our rigorous quality and safety standards.

Duties and responsibilities:

 

Automation & Programming: Design, program, and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems.

System Integration: Manage communication between field devices, sensors, motors, and higher-level data systems like SCADA or MES.

Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for complex electrical and control issues that go beyond the scope of general maintenance technicians.

Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in production and implement logic changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure all systems comply with FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) and OSHA standards. Maintain clear documentation for audits and validation.

Project Management: Lead the installation and commissioning of new equipment, coordinating with external vendors and internal stakeholders.

 

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent years of hands-on experience).

Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000), Siemens (TIA Portal), or similar platforms.

Electrical Knowledge: Ability to read and design electrical schematics and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).

Food Industry Experience: Familiarity with sanitary design, "wash-down" rated equipment, and USDA/FDA regulations is highly preferred.
