JOB SUMMARY:

The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, instructing, and grading all coursework in the assigned classes;
  • Assigning final grades; and recording attendance;
  • Communicating with students in a timely manner

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instructing assigned classes;
  • Grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments;
  • Assigning final grades and delivering grades and grade justification sheets;
  • Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment;
    • Responding to student inquiries regarding course content, grading, and other academic concerns.
  • Collaborating with department colleagues as necessary;
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.聽聽

Recommended Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

路聽聽聽聽聽Instructing assigned classes in accordance with approved course descriptions, learning outcomes, syllabi requirements, and departmental expectations;

路聽聽聽聽聽Preparing and maintaining accurate, current, and well-organized course content and instructional materials;

路聽聽聽聽Effectively utilizing the College-approved learning management system to organize course content, communicate with students, publish assignment deadlines, provide timely feedback, maintain grades, and complete required course records;

路聽聽聽聽Grading quizzes, examinations, written assignments, and other assessments fairly, consistently, and within established timelines;

路聽聽聽聽Recording attendance and submitting final grades and required academic documentation by established deadlines;

路聽聽聽聽Communicating course expectations, grading practices, assignment requirements, and academic-progress information clearly to students;

路聽聽聽聽Responding to student communications and providing appropriate opportunities for consultation and academic support;

路聽聽聽聽聽Facilitating respectful civil discourse, critical thinking, information literacy, and evidence-based analysis while presenting political and governmental topics accurately and consistent with approved course learning outcomes;

路聽聽聽聽Maintaining a respectful, professional, safe, and nondiscriminatory learning environment that encourages the civil exchange of differing viewpoints;

路聽聽聽聽聽Utilizing College- or department-approved instructional materials, including open educational resources when designated for the assigned course;

路聽聽聽聽聽Teaching in assigned instructional modalities, which may include in-person, online, hybrid, or live-virtual formats;

路聽聽聽聽聽Participating in required adjunct orientation, training, professional development, department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings; and

路聽聽聽聽 Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred:聽 A Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Political Science, International Relations, or related major such as Conflict Management

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.聽 Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required.聽 It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.聽 IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
