Summary:

 

STULZ is committed to meeting or exceeding industry standards and regulations and is currently seeking an experienced Test Engineer for our manufacturing facility in Frederick, MD USA.

 

The Test engineer will assist the Performance Test Lab Supervisor in planning, coordinating and scheduling activities of our recognized lntertek (ETL) SATELLITE laboratory to facilitate performance and certification testing and documentation. The Test Engineer will be responsible for designing the test apparatus and ensuring compliance to all applicable standards and requirements. This position will involve working with clients, both internally and externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Sales and Application Engineering in review of testing specifications and test scripts.
  • Create documentation for test planning such as test scripts, drawings or sketches, instrumentation selections, and material lists
  • Determine root cause and potential solutions during performance testing in order to meet testing requirements.
  • Establish internal test standards and methods in conjunction with ASHRAE Standards and procedures (e.g. ASHRAE 127, 37, AHRl1360)
  • Generate reports and provide necessary communications with other departmental functions regarding the Performance Test Lab responsibilities
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment, and develop methods and procedures for testing components, products or systems, if test requirements deviate from common standards
  • Support third party NRTL testing on site as required (minimal travel)
  • Responsible to meet and maintain ISO standards under the company's directive
  • Responsible for meeting and maintaining safety standards under the company's directive
  • Other duties as assigned

            

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
  • 5 years in an engineering or technical role, preferably in a manufacturing, test or certification environment
  • Ability to use all appropriate testing equipment to perform testing, troubleshooting and evaluation of critical cooling and environmental control equipment
  • Experience performing HVAC service or testing
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC systems and their components
  • Project management skills are preferred
  • Solidworks or AutoCAD design experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical and controls functions in a lab environment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • EPA 608 - Universal - or the ability to obtain as necessary

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand English instructions.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, basic Algebra
