Rail Lead
Join our team as a Rail Lead and play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient movement of vehicles by rail. In this hands-on leadership position, you'll support daily rail loading operations, train and coach team members, maintain quality and safety standards, and help drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Prepare railcars for shipment, opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, chocking vehicles, and chock replacement.
• Load and unload vehicles onto railcars in compliance with company quality standards.
• Ensure vehicles are properly spaced within the rail, secure vehicles according to customer standards onto outbound railcars.
• Use power tools to perform metal cutting.
• Maintain buck loaders/ramps, including completing daily inspections.
• Conduct monthly inspections on bridge plates and paint bridge plates as needed.
• Assist Supervisors with leading, training, coaching, and assigning work.
• Audit processes, procedures and resolve issues.
• Ensure all work complies with quality and PET standards.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
• Able to work year-round in various weather conditions.
• Physically able to safely lift 50 lbs. at shoulder level.
• Able to work within the confined spaces of a railcar and work at heights of 20 feet 2 inches.
• Able to climb up and down ladders multiple times per day.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Rail loading, or a related operational environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, or training experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with employees, supervisors, customers, and other departments.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling employee concerns and performance matters.
