The Opportunity

Mainspring Recovery is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to leadits ASAM 2.5 partial hospitalization and ASAM 3.1 clinically managed,low-intensity residential services in Dumfries, Virginia. This on-siteleadership position is responsible for ensuring consistent, coordinated, andevidence-based care across both levels of treatment.

The Clinical Director will oversee daily clinical operations, superviselicensed and associate-level clinicians, strengthen treatment programming, andensure compliance with ASAM criteria, Virginia DBHDS regulations, CARFstandards, payer requirements, and applicable laws. This position reports tothe Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.

What You'll Do

• Lead daily clinical operations across the ASAM 2.5 partial hospitalization and ASAM 3.1 residential programs
  
• Promote consistency, effective transitions, and continuity of care between the two levels of service
  
• Provide clinical supervision and oversight to licensed and associate-level clinical staff in accordance with Virginia board requirements
  
• Ensure clinical programming, documentation, and services align with ASAM criteria, DBHDS regulations, CARF standards, payer expectations, and medical necessity requirements
  
• Oversee the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical programming and treatment services
  
• Review clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, compliance, medical necessity, and appropriateness of care
  
• Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and performance management to members of the clinical team
  
• Collaborate with Medical, Nursing, Operations, Admissions, Utilization Review, and executive leadership to support placement decisions, continuity of care, and positive client outcomes
  
• Participate in treatment planning, case consultation, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and utilization management as needed
  
• Support audits, investigations, corrective action plans, accreditation activities, and regulatory readiness initiatives
  
• Maintain awareness of evolving behavioral health regulations, payer requirements, and clinical best practices
  
• Foster a clinical culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, professional development, trauma-informed care, and ethical practice
  

Requirements

What You Bring

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required
  
• Active, independent clinical license in Virginia required, such as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or an equivalent credential
  
• Qualification to provide board-approved supervision to associate-level clinicians required
  
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment
  
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  
• Experience working across residential and outpatient treatment settings, including ASAM 2.5 and ASAM 3.1 services
  
• Strong knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based practices
  
• Understanding of Virginia DBHDS regulations, CARF standards, clinical documentation requirements, and medical necessity criteria
  
• Experience with Medicaid-funded services, utilization review, accreditation standards, and state licensing requirements preferred
  
• Excellent leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, organizational, and team-development skills
  
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, sound clinical judgment, and ethical standards
  
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  

Benefits

Compensation and Schedule

• Salary: $125,000 to $135,000 annually, commensurate with experience
  
• Schedule: Full-time | On-site |  8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  
• Flexibility may be required based on operational needs, including occasional evening, weekend, or on-call responsibilities
