Job Title: Assembler

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $19.50 - $22.00 per hour

 

Summary: At Aptiv, we inspire the world's most innovative teams by doing the right thing, the right way. We are seeking an Assembler to build mission-critical products that power advanced aerospace, defense, and space systems.

This hands-on role produces complex, high-reliability cable assemblies and wire harnesses from detailed drawings and work instructions. Responsibilities include precision soldering, crimping, wire termination, harness routing, inspection, testing, and rework in a high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment.

 

Leadership & Core Responsibilities

Cable & Harness Assembly

  • Build conforming products by following detailed work instructions, blueprints, schematics, and production documents.
  • Perform precision assembly tasks including soldering, crimping, wire termination, harness routing, and use of hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, and soldering irons.
  • Set up and operate manufacturing equipment and hand tools required for assigned assembly processes.
  • Conduct electro-mechanical and mechanical testing of subassemblies and final assemblies and accurately maintain test reports.
  • Perform approved rework on nonconforming products and resubmit completed work for inspection.

Quality, Safety & Workmanship

  • Build quality into the product by reviewing documentation, completing self-inspections, and meeting required labor and workmanship standards.
  • Partner with Quality Control to present products for in-process and final inspection.
  • Follow applicable workmanship standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S practices.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 2+ years of complex cable-harness assembly experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or another regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Regulatory Compliance: Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to ITAR requirements.

Technical Qualifications: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions. Soldering experience required. Experience with crimpers, strippers, soldering irons, potting, molding, or cable-assembly testing preferred.

Communication: English reading and writing proficiency sufficient to complete training and follow highly regulated work instructions.

 

Certifications & Competencies

Preferred Certifications: J-STD-001 certification is a significant advantage. Ability to meet and maintain IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610 workmanship standards required.

Systems Proficiency: Google Workspace, ADP, and Syspro.

Core Competencies: Precision, quality focus, safety awareness, accountability, teamwork, documentation accuracy, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-mix/low-volume environment. Core values: Accountability, Collaboration, and Empowerment (ACE).

 

Compensation, Benefits & Legal

Total Rewards & Compensation: The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.00 per hour. Employees assigned to the second shift are eligible for a $2.00 per-hour shift differential.
