Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) seeks an AV and Service Desk Technician to provide frontline technology support to students, faculty, and staff while meeting audiovisual technology needs throughout campus. You are the right person for this role if you enjoy variety, like working with people, and want a role that connects technology to the day-to-day life of a mission-driven school. You’ll be part of a team that works together to meet everyday technology needs and keep a busy residential campus connected.

Why NMH

  • Comprehensive insurances, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability

  • A robust 11% 403(b) contribution (with a 3% employee contribution)

  • Generous paid time off, including three weeks of annual paid vacation

  • Tired of packing lunch? Enjoy meals in our dining hall while on duty and save an average of $2,700 a year.

  • Tuition remission for dependent children of high school age who meet the acceptance requirements of the school

About NMH

Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent boarding and day school located in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts, was founded on the principles of inclusivity and community — values that have been central to the school’s mission since 1879. NMH engages the intellect, compassion, and talents of its students, empowering them to act with humanity and purpose.

A Day in the Life

The AV and Service Desk Technician provides frontline technology support to the NMH community, troubleshooting hardware, software, accounts, and other technology issues while managing service requests through the IT ticketing system. The role also provides hands-on AV support for classes, meetings, and campus events, including setup and operation of projectors, sound systems, web conferencing, and basic live-streaming. Because NMH is a residential school with a busy campus event schedule, this position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events, performances, admissions programs, and other campus needs. The successful candidate will enjoy working with a diverse community of technology users and will bring strong communication skills, curiosity, and a commitment to service.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or customer service roles

  • Experience using ticketing systems such as TeamDynamix, ServiceNow, or Zendesk.

  • Proficiency with Google for Education and Microsoft Office suites.

  • Basic troubleshooting skills for computers, networks, printers, and mobile devices.

  • Experience with user account management, including password resets and permissions.

  • Familiarity with classroom AV equipment, including projectors, sound systems, and document cameras, or a willingness to learn.

  • Familiarity with web conferencing tools such as Zoom and Google Meet.

  • Basic knowledge of AV hardware, including projectors, microphones, speakers, control systems, cabling, connectors, and signal flow.

  • Ability to follow AV setup diagrams and troubleshoot common issues such as display or sound problems.

  • Familiarity with basic video editing software such as iMovie, Final Cut, or Adobe Premiere, or a willingness to learn.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with patience and empathy for users of all technical levels.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tickets and priorities.
