As Scrub Technician, you'll play a vital role in bringing that mission to life. Working closely with our Registered Nurse and Physician in the intra operative phase while utilizing your experience, knowledge of equipment and instrumentation to ensure the best possible outcomes.

In this role, you will play an important supportive role communicating with our surgeons, anesthesiologist, and CRNA about the patient’s condition and perform improvement activities. You’ll also play a key role in assisting the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory, assess in operating room equipment function and overall readiness. You’ll also obtain supplies for individual procedures and ensure all appropriate needs of surgical operations teams are met. Additionally, you’ll be a key partner in assisting the surgical team in maintain organization and daily function of the operating room.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Capable of trouble shooting equipment problems.
  • Verbalizes knowledge of risks and complications.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrates awareness of protocol for malfunctioning equipment and repair.
  • Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies based on surgeon preference.
  • Selects equipment and supplies in an organized, cost effective and timely manner.
  • Assures all equipment is functioning before use and removes any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Demonstrates skill in appropriate use of instruments and equipment.
  • Operates mechanical, electrical, and air-powered equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available at all times.
  • Keeps surgical suites clean, tidy, free of soiled equipment and supplies, and properly stocked.
  • Follows established policies and procedures for counts.
  • Initiates corrective actions when counts are incorrect.
  • Demonstrates ability to create and maintain a sterile field.
  • Uses principles of aseptic practice in varying situations.
  • Initiates corrective action when breaks in technique occur.
  • Wears appropriate attire in restricted area.
  • Adheres to recommended traffic patterns.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the safe care and handling of instrumentation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sterile processing standards and practices.
  • Assists with inventory management.
  • Assists with OR turnover, and preparation of sterile supplies (e.g. opening, case pulling).
  • All other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) followed by Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) Preferred.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience required.
  • Adhere to 4 x 10-hour shift schedule.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $29.00 - $31.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.
