Summary:

The Mammographer obtains and enters patient history into the record keeping system for mammography. Ensures correct exam is performed and compares current images with priors. Has knowledge of the software being used, able to perform quality control and document on appropriate forms.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures patients are properly identified via verbal name and birth date verification or by armband verification.  Communicates with the Radiologist pertinent information regarding patient’s exams.

  • Works with Radiologist to obtain recommended views for patients called back.  Assists Radiologist during breast procedures.

  • Provides education appropriate to procedure performed. Maintains personnel documentation of continuing experience and continuing education to assure compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).

  • Knowledgeable of software used for mammography which includes the manager, technologist work station, Radiologist secure view monitors, and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

  • Radiographer | North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board of Examiners | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources

  • Radiographer | American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources

  • Mammography | American Registry of Radiologic Technologists of Mammography (M) | Within 24 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of Start Date | Learning Management System


Education:

• Preferred: Associates - Radiologic Technology

Language Requirements:

This position requires proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.
