MASS Tech is seeking a highly skilled IIoT Senior Solution Engineer to design, develop, and deploy IIoT and SCADA solutions that support manufacturing operations across production areas. This role will ensure accurate, real-time data is available and seamlessly connected across manufacturing systems, empowering teams to solve problems quickly and effectively. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in industrial automation, SCADA/HMI development, and IIoT architecture, with a strong focus on innovation and reliability.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Build high-fidelity edge data ingestion systems capable of handling hundreds of concurrent PLC connections with sustained throughput at production scale.
• Deliver reliable applications and systems that meet business and process needs, using platforms such as Ignition SCADA, .NET/C#, Typescript, and Angular.
• Develop load testing platforms to enable repeatable stress testing of industrial drivers and messaging infrastructure before production deployment.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, design specifications, and technical decision records.
• Enable and coach team members to build their own solutions and effectively use platform tools.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, logistics, maintenance, and quality teams to translate business processes into solution requirements.
• Evaluate emerging industrial technologies and provide strategic recommendations for integration into manufacturing environments.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience (5+ years).
• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA/HMI development, or IIoT architecture.
• 3+ years of experience with the Ignition platform (Perspective, Designer, gateway architecture, scripting).
• Proficiency in Python, Jython, .NET/C#, Typescript, and SQL.
• Experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, or equivalent).
• 2+ years of experience using Sparkplug B, MQTT, and OPC UA/DA protocols in manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, ControlNet).
• Strong experience querying and updating SQL databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills using structured methods such as 5-Why, protocol analysis, and reverse engineering.

Preferred Experience & Skills
• Experience developing custom Ignition gateway modules (Java/Kotlin).
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and modern infrastructure (Kubernetes/k3s).
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Experience leveraging coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate development.
• Linux administration experience (Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Experience with JTEKT Toyopuc PLC platforms.
• Exposure to machine vision, RFID, or barcode integration.
• Greenfield manufacturing facility startup experience.
• Background in technical training or instructional design.
