Summary:

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading and maintaining the organization's Quality Management System 

(QMS) while ensuring compliance with VSG standards and customer requirements. This role provides direct 

supervision of quality personnel, oversees inspection and audit activities, drives corrective and preventive actions, and 

partners with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to improve product quality, process 

consistency, and customer satisfaction. The Quality Supervisor promotes a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance while ensuring quality standards are consistently met across all products, processes, and facilities.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continuously improve the VSG Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with all documented procedures and quality standards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, including ISO surveillance and certification audits, customer audits, and supplier assessments.
  • Supervise incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure products meet established quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Manage non-conforming material processes, including containment, disposition, corrective actions, and trend analysis.
  • Develop, track, and report key quality metrics including customer complaints, defects, scrap, rework, first-pass yield, and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Planning, and Supply Chain teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and quality enhancement.
  • Support supplier quality initiatives, including supplier evaluations, performance reviews, corrective actions, and qualification activities.
  • Ensure proper document control and maintenance of quality records, procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans.
  • Train and coach employees on quality standards, quality tools, and best practices.
  • Prepare and present quality reports and performance updates to management, highlighting risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and product lifecycle management activities from a quality perspective.
  • Stay informed on industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory changes that may impact quality processes or compliance obligations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive quality assurance, quality control, or quality systems experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external certification audits.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis techniques, including 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and CAPA methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing quality metrics, statistical analysis, and process improvement tools to drive operational performance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability.
  • Experience with ERP systems, quality management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lean Six Sigma certification, or ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and improving ISO 9001-certified Quality Management Systems is preferred.
  • Experience in supplying the arborist, landscaping, fire & rescue, climbing, utility, industrial rope access (IRA), military, or related industries is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
