Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Foster Care Coordinator?

  • As a Foster Care Coordinator in the South Carolina Foster Care department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success and stability of foster placements by supporting both the youth and the caregivers. You’ll also help increase visibility and awareness of the foster care program by assisting with administrative tasks, engaging in marketing and outreach efforts, and enhancing the program’s social media presence.
  • A typical day as a Foster Care Coordinator will include conducting home visits, providing case management and support to foster families, coordinating services, managing documentation and compliance tasks, and collaborating with internal staff and community partners. You may also spend time developing content or materials for outreach and engaging with the community to recruit and support new foster homes.
  • As a Foster Care Coordinator, flexibility is key. Some evenings or weekends may be required based on family needs, events, or outreach opportunities. This position also includes participation in an on-call weekend rotation to ensure 24/7 support and coverage for foster families in the Greenville area in case of emergencies or urgent needs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
  • Education requirement for this individual contributor role is: Bachelor’s Degree in social work or relate field
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills. Meets designation as a Qualified Professional in SC.
  • All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
  • Ability to work primarily with Clients in Greenville, SC.
