Psychology Cognition Research Assistant

Professor Conway seeks motivated and curious psychology and/or neuroscience students to serve as a research assistant on projects related to human learning, memory, and language.

5-10 hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling

Responsibilities may include:

Participant recruitment: Creating, compiling, distributing, and collecting recruitment materials.

Conducting experiments: Scheduling experiment times, conducting consent procedures, operating equipment, recording and storing data.

Reviewing existing literature and designing new experiments

Learning to use neuroimaging equipment

Programming experiments and conducting data analysis

Other research duties as projects demand

• A keen interest in cognitive psychology and/or cognitive neuroscience.
• A good understanding of the scientific method.
• Previous experience with programming is helpful, though not required.
• Organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative.
• An ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• An ability to follow directions and to keep accurate electronic and written records.
• A willingness to prioritize laboratory work over other demands throughout the semester.
• A history of honest, respectful, and responsible conduct with others.
• Course work in psychology and/or neuroscience and a psychology major (or intended) and/or neuroscience concentrator (or intended).
• Certified by Grinnell College as human participant researcher (can be obtained prior to assuming work duties).
