Preschool Student Teacher

Our preschool is a laboratory school for the Psychology Department where college students gain hands-on experience working with young children and supporting their development along side a professional teaching staff.

Your Role

As a student teacher, you will help children develop:

• Motor, cognitive, language, and social-emotional skills
• Problem-solving and creative-thinking skills
• Conflict-resolution and self-regulation skills
• Independence and self-help skills
• Skills needed to be a positive member of the preschool community
• Skills that prepare them for kindergarten

What We Expect

We value mutual respect between teachers and children. Student teachers should interact with children in a calm, patient, warm, and respectful manner. 

Your role is to support the classroom teachers and the children's learning, encourage independence, model positive behavior, and help create a safe and welcoming classroom community. This includes helping with transition into preschool, preparing and serving snack, various classroom activities, supervision while playing outside, and other activities. 

This is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children while gaining valuable experience in teaching, child development, communication, and teamwork.
